Creativity has always come naturally to both Ian and Emily, but their path to tabletop roleplaying took a few tries. Ian first introduced Emily to Dungeons & Dragons when John was still a toddler, when keeping track of dice, rules, characters, and a small child all at once proved to be a little more adventure than anyone needed. Years later, as John reached the preteen years and developed an imagination more than capable of challenging his parents', Ian brought D&D back to the table—and this time, it stuck.
The family began with the structure of Lost Mine of Phandelver, but it wasn't long before following someone else's map wasn't quite enough. They wanted to build their own. Ian began shaping worlds and maps, including using dice to let chance help determine the landscape. Emily filled those places with storylines, histories, and NPCs, while John contributed unexpected choices, creative solutions, and just enough chaos to ensure that no campaign ever unfolded exactly as planned.
Eventually, the characters became more than character sheets and the adventures became stories they weren't ready to leave behind when the dice stopped rolling. Mythitar grew from that table into a world created together and now being reshaped into novels so others can explore it too.

When the dice are put away, the creators of Mythitar Press are a family living in rural Eastern Washington, where fantasy worldbuilding has to fit somewhere between work, school, sports, 4-H, and everyday life.
Ian works for Scouting America, bringing much of the same love of adventure, problem-solving, and storytelling to both his work and the worlds he creates.
Emily works for Washington State's Department of Children, Youth, and Families while pursuing her Master of Social Work, and somehow still finds time to populate Mythitar with characters, conflicts, histories, and far too many new ideas.
John attends school, plays sports throughout the year, participates in 4-H, and remains an essential source of imagination—and unpredictability—at the gaming table.
Mythitar Press isn't the creation of a large studio. It is something built around a family table, one campaign, one character, and often one very unexpected dice roll at a time.
