Discover the Peoples of Mythitar

Aelyn

Arethean

Aelyn

The Aelyn, or elves of Mythitar, are an ancient people shaped by memory, stewardship, and a deep relationship with the living world. Graceful and long-lived, they believe forests, rivers, mountains, and communities are not possessions but responsibilities entrusted to those who care for them. Their civilizations include scholars, rulers, soldiers, healers, artisans, and farmers, all influenced by the belief that power carries obligation and that remembering the past is one of the ways the future is protected.

Aosai

Arethean

Aelyn

The Aosai are not one race, but a vast family of magical beings born from the creative magic woven throughout Mythitar. Fairies, elementals, Wardens, nymphs, dryads, household spirits, and stranger beings all fall beneath the name. Their bodies, lifespans, origins, and abilities vary enormously, but all embody possibility more strongly than ordinary reality. Aosai may be whimsical, solemn, generous, dangerous, or wonderfully absurd—and their magic often follows emotional, symbolic, or local logic rather than mortal expectations.

Blood Clans

The Aretheans are a striking horned people created during the First Age by Lamythia to pursue excellence and steward civilization. Their culture prizes education, philosophy, mathematics, medicine, architecture, rhetoric, law, and mastery of one’s abilities. At the heart of their society is Arete, the belief that every person is responsible for becoming the greatest version of themselves. Their greatest cultural divide lies in one question: does excellence create a greater responsibility to serve, or does superiority grant the right to rule?

Blood Clans

Blood Clans

Blood Clans

The Blood Clans are a related family of peoples commonly called Orcs, Goblins, and Hobgoblins by outsiders, though the Clans consider themselves branches of one severed people. Descended from ancient Aelyn exiles, their culture was transformed by generations of hunger, migration, warfare, and survival. Blood Clan societies value loyalty, resilience, family, and strength, but many have also embraced conquest and domination. They call themselves survivors; their enemies call them conquerors. Across Mythitar’s long history, both descriptions have often been true.

Dragons

Blood Clans

Dragons

Dragons are among Mythitar’s oldest, rarest, and most powerful peoples. Highly intelligent and extraordinarily long-lived, they once shaped kingdoms, territories, alliances, and laws whose influence remains visible throughout the world. Modern dragons are uncommon and often private, but they have never vanished; many still maintain recognized territories and relationships with nearby peoples. Their colors, forms, magical affinities, personalities, and titles vary greatly. Dragons may be diminished from what they once were, but they remain an active part of Mythitar’s unfinished history.

Drakyn

Blood Clans

Dragons

The Drakyn are the younger and more numerous of Mythitar’s dragonblooded peoples, descended from ancient Drathari populations that changed dramatically across generations. Smaller, wingless, hardy, and highly adaptable, they can be found throughout Mythitar in cities, mines, farms, ports, caravans, and frontier settlements. Outsiders often dismiss them as troublesome, noisy, or simple-minded, but Drakyn communities are resourceful, tightly interconnected, and remarkably resilient. They value practical solutions, active households, mutual assistance, and the ability to survive circumstances that would defeat less adaptable peoples.

Drathari

Drathari

Drathari

The Drathari are Mythitar’s elder dragonblooded people and the closest living mortal relatives of true dragons. Towering, scaled, horned, clawed, and often winged, most also possess an inherited magical Breath Gift. Their wings allow powerful gliding and brief bursts of flight rather than sustained travel. Drathari civilization preserves strong influences from Dragon Age law, genealogy, oath, stewardship, and service, but they are not lesser dragons. Over centuries they developed their own Houses, governments, faiths, rivalries, traditions, and interpretations of the draconic heritage they inherited.

Dvergar

Drathari

Drathari

The Dvergar, or dwarves of Mythitar, are a sturdy, earth-rooted people known for endurance, craftsmanship, clan loyalty, and a deep respect for work honestly performed. Their mountain Holds, mines, forge-cities, roads, breweries, and workshops are built with generations in mind. To the Dvergar, a bridge still standing centuries later can preserve history as surely as a written record. They value useful skill above empty prestige and believe that what is made well should last, what is promised should hold, and what is broken should never be pretended whole.

Faun

Drathari

Gnomes

The Fauns are a communal mortal people recognized by their horns, cloven hooves, partially furred legs, music, vineyards, farms, and lively celebrations. Though sometimes mistaken for Aosai, Fauns are entirely mortal. Their culture is built around participation: communities thrive because people contribute according to their abilities, whether through farming, childcare, music, trade, cooking, repair, or simple presence. Fauns believe enjoyment and responsibility belong together. A good life is not something a person possesses alone—it is something neighbors, friends, and families continually make together.

Gnomes

Halflings

Gnomes

The Gnomes are a small scholarly people whose influence quietly supports civilizations across Mythitar. They are teachers, physicians, engineers, administrators, monks, scribes, astronomers, artisans, and meticulous record-keepers who believe knowledge carries responsibility. Gnomish culture values evidence, precision, practical usefulness, and intellectual honesty, summarized by the saying, “Kindly if possible. Accurately always.” They are generally generous toward other peoples, though their devotion to verifiable fact makes the philosophical debates beloved by Aretheans a particular source of Gnomish irritation.

Goliaths

Halflings

Halflings

The Goliaths are enormous mortal people, commonly standing twelve to fifteen feet tall, whose cultures prize reliability, competence, endurance, family, and practical knowledge. Their strength is impressive, but Goliaths do not consider strength valuable merely because it exists—it matters when someone can depend upon it. Farmers, sailors, miners, builders, engineers, merchants, craftspeople, and laborers are all common within their communities. Goliaths believe hardship is not improved by pretending it is easy; it becomes easier when reliable people are willing to help carry it.

Halflings

Halflings

Halflings

The Halflings are a small people closely related to humanity, known for family, hospitality, food, celebration, local memory, and the quiet dignity of a comfortable home. They rarely pursue empires or conquest, preferring prosperous farms, close communities, familiar roads, and tables with enough room for unexpected guests. Relatively few become adventurers because Halflings do not consider an ordinary life a lesser one. To them, raising a family, feeding neighbors, maintaining a home, and enjoying many good years together can be every bit as meaningful as becoming a legend.

Men

Velari

Velari

Men, or humans, are Mythitar’s most widespread, adaptable, and regionally varied people. They possess no universal physical trait, ancient calling, or singular cultural identity. Instead, humans migrate, build, borrow, experiment, abandon what fails, and incorporate ideas from nearly everyone they encounter. Their settlements appear in almost every climate and frequently become meeting places between cultures. Human kingdoms rarely survive by remaining unchanged for thousands of years; they survive through adaptation. Their greatest common strength is the willingness to become something new.

Velari

Velari

Velari

The Velari are a rare avian people standing roughly eight to eleven feet tall, capable of true sustained flight and commonly living around three centuries. Their civilization remains concentrated around their homeland and the great city of Caelora, not because they are ignorant of the wider world, but because few feel a strong desire to leave. Velari culture centers upon family, neighborhood, music, public emotion, shared identity, and belonging. Their extraordinarily varied plumage and avian features differ between families, but all are simply Velari—one people in many forms
